Hotel Bellagio
Happy St Cayetano’s day!
For the few who might not know what we’re talking about (what do you mean you don’t keep up with your saints’ days?) St Cayetano is the patron saint of gamblers. This put us in mind of casinos or, more accurately, casino hotels. They’re a bit odd, right? Weird twilight worlds full of people wearing sunglasses indoors? We respectfully beg to differ.
Here are four casino hotels that St Cayetano would not only have approved of, but would want to get a room at too…
1. Venetian Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas:
So you’ve decided to go to a casino hotel. You might as well make it the casino hotel – this awesomely surreal imitation of Venice has huge rooms with requisite marble-and-gold bathrooms.
2. Fairmont Monte Carlo, Monte Carlo:
Fulfil your James Bond fantasies at one of the Fairmont Monte Carlo’s subterranean rooms, which are directly below the Monte Carlo Casino overlook lush sunken gardens.
3. Bellagio, Las Vegas:
There’s a ridiculous amount of fun to be had here – what else can you say about a place that has both original Picasso artwork and a man-made lake with fountain shows?
4. The Evian Royal Resort, Evian-Les-Bains:
Nobody’s scooping missed pennies out of slot machines here (or if they are, they’re doing it very elegantly). A Belle Epoque-styled wonder at the foot of the French Alps, the Evian Royal Resort is pure sophistication in hotel form.
